The garden designers’ brief:

The Bell is a gastro pub and hotel in Skenfrith, Monmouthshire, whose restaurant has won two AA rosettes for its food and was voted Great Britain's Michelin Pub of the Year 2007. the owners, Janet and William, are passionate about the quality of the food and drink they offer. they wanted fruit and veg for the restaurant and picking flowers for the rooms the bedrooms look across the site to the gorgeous Welsh countryside so the garden needed to be ornamental too.

	the beds are edged with a mixture of ornamental and productive plants – from clipped box and Lavender to endive and leeks.
the eight pairs of raised beds look good every week of the year
	the crops are both tasty and unusual – we developed a full crop rotation and planting plan for the whole year.
the gable ends of the pub inspired the design of the fruit and veg gazebos which were made to order by a local blacksmith.
