The arrival of spring weather is such a treat. It is so difficult to try and remain positive and start looking forward to all those lovely hours of gardening coming ahead when we are suffering the cold blowy weather of March winds – then of course we have the other end – the April showers. If the garden is not firm and dry under foot, then most people will be sensible and only tread on it very lightly. The very wet weather leaves pools of water all over the lawn here and the flower beds are awash with long standing water. Bhere is so much water lying around it is jolly difficult to find ways to make it soak away – beyond the somewhat primitive prodding the entire lawn with the tines of a very hard working garden fork to help aerate it as much as possible. Draining by underground soakaways is really the only long term solution to this.
